2022 The Nurse
Tasting Notes
The nose reveals a vibrant and aromatic profile, with bright red fruit notes of fresh raspberries, and strawberries, complemented by subtle floral hints of violets and a touch of dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied, with a silky, almost weightless mouthfeel that highlights its bright acidity. Juicy red fruit flavors take center stage, balanced by a gentle earthiness and a whisper of spice. The finish is clean and refreshing, with lingering notes of tart red fruit and a soft, almost ethereal texture that invites another sip.
Winemaking
Fermented and aged in clay amphora for 18 months, this wine benefits from gentle micro-oxygenation, and because clay is neutral, a pure expression of the grapes. The Nurse is a nod to Andrea’s mom, Candace, who served Tacoma for many years in the emergency rooms of Tacoma’s hospitals.
Food Pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, such as herb-crusted chicken or duck with a cherry glaze, as the acidity cuts through the richness while enhancing the flavors. It also works well with Mediterranean-inspired dishes like ratatouille, grilled vegetables, or tomato-based pasta dishes. For lighter fare, consider pairing it with charcuterie featuring mild cured meats, soft cheeses.
