2023 Mourvédre
Tasting Notes
This 100% Mourvèdre presents a deep ruby color and an enticing bouquet of ripe
blackberries, plums, and dark cherries, complemented by earthy notes of leather and hints of
black pepper and violet. On the palate, it is full-bodied with flavors of dark fruit, smoked
meat, and herbs, supported by well-integrated tannins that provide a velvety mouthfeel.
Winemaking
Our winemaking philosophy for Mourvèdre focuses on vineyard quality first, and Sugarloaf
Vineyard is known for their exceptional quality which is why we also source our Roussanne,
and Cabernet Franc from there. Once in the cellar we take a minimalist approach. Gentle
extraction through twice daily punch downs ensures balanced structure and refined tannins.
Aging in neutral French oak highlights the wine's natural dark fruit, savory notes, and terroir,
rather than masking its personality. Bottled unfiltered.
Food Pairing
This Mourvèdre pairs exceptionally well with a variety of bold flavors, making it a versatile
choice for food lovers. The smoky, spicy notes of barbecue dishes enhance the wine's rich
fruit character, creating a delightful harmony on the palate. While grilled or roasted lamb
brings out the wine's savory nuances.
