2023 Tempranillo
Tasting Notes
The aroma is savory, with notes of dried herbs, leather, smoked paprika, and subtle red fruit
underneath. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with flavors of cherry, plum, and cocoa
framed by earthy spice and firm tannins. The finish is long and dry, carrying hints of espresso,
cedar, and minerality.
Winemaking
This is our second vintage of Tempranillo. We source this from Sonrisa vineyard in the
Rattlesnake Hills, the same vineyard as our Rosé. We use 15% new French oak with a lighter
toast than our other wines to add a little spice and vanilla to the background without
interfering with the fruit.
Food Pairings
This Tempranillo pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, where the wine’s fruit and spice
complement the meat’s savory richness. Spicy chorizo adds a bold contrast that brings out
the wine’s deep flavors, while a hearty paella enhances its complexity. For a cheese option,
Manchego harmonizes with the wine's balanced tannins and hints of vanilla.
