2023 Actuary
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Actuary opens with concentrated aromas of black cherry, cassis, and dried tobacco, layered with subtle notes of smoked paprika and violet. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, showcasing the structural foundation of Cabernet Sauvignon with the velvety texture of Syrah. Flavors of ripe blackberry and plum are complemented by savory undertones of leather and cedar. The finish is long and refined, marked by fine-grained tannins and a touch of toastiness from the French oak.
Winemaking
The Actuary is all about balance, sourcing fruit from three distinct sites across the Columbia Valley. The Cabernet Sauvignon from Railroad Vineyard provides the wine’s architectural core, while Syrah from Coyote Canyon adds mid-palate weight and dark fruit intensity. The addition of 10% Tempranillo from Sonrisa Vineyard introduces an earthy complexity. A low 15% of new French oak used, allows the wine to shine while providing a soft, integrated oak profile.

This versatile blend pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes that can stand up to its structure.
