2023 The Nurse
Tasting Notes
A vibrant, savory Rhône-style blend that leads with bright red fruit and a little wildness around
the edges. Grenache brings ripe strawberry, raspberry, and cherry; Syrah adds violet, black
pepper, and dark plum; Mourvèdre contributes earthy spice, dried herbs, and a subtle meaty
note. The clay amphora keeps the texture fresh and energetic, with fine tannins and a long,
peppery finish.
Winemaking
The 2023 Nurse is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Each variety was fermented in
stainless steel to preserve its fruit and personality, then aged for 20 months in clay amphora.
The neutral, breathable amphora allows the wine to soften and come together without adding
oak flavor, keeping the focus on the vineyards, the blend’s savory character, and its natural
freshness. The Nurse is a nod to Andrea’s mom, Candace, who served Tacoma for many years
in the emergency rooms of Tacoma’s hospitals.
Food Pairing
The Nurse is made for food with a little smoke, spice, or Mediterranean flair. Pair it with grilled
lamb, sausage, smoked chicken, pork tenderloin, shawarma, wood-fired pizza, or roasted
eggplant. It is also a great red for a charcuterie board—especially with cured meats, olives,
roasted nuts, and semi-firm cheeses such as Manchego or aged Gouda.
